How to Reduce Your Arthritis Symptoms

Arthritis is a disease that has plagued many people around the world for decades. It is a painful ailment that induces aches in the joints and causes severe pain for any person who has it. In some cases, arthritis even inhibits people from working or enjoying daily activities. There are several types of arthritis; however, most types and the pain they case are eased by the same remedies.
First: Rest
Whatever joint is aching, whether one or all, sit or lay down and rest or relax. If someone other than yourself is home, have them assist you with your household chores or other projects so you can take a break. Continuing to stress an arthritic joint inflames it even more, causing more pressure and pain as a result.
Second: Take an anti-inflammatory medicine
There are several different brands of over the counter drugs that reduce inflammation. Most anti-inflammatory drugs also contain a pain reliever that may reduce the joint pain. If the arthritis is severe, it is likely that a physician has prescribed a medication. If this is the case, take the prescription drug and continue to rest to allow the medicine to work.
Third: Apply heat
A heating pad is an arthritic joint's best friend. The heat relaxes the muscles around the joint and allows blood to flow more freely to the joint. This also allows the swelling in and around the joint to go down, and in turn, reduces pain. Look for a heating pad that offers several different levels of heat for maximum aid.
